“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?'
Actually, who are you not to be? [...] There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do [...] And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson
Yesterday I felt very powerful. I was preparing a keynote speech about psychological safety for the DevOpsDays with Laurence Kozera, then nailing a sales conversation with a wonderful client together with Nele Clüver, then teaching my last class of the Coaching Fundamentals Program to an incredible group, then leading a WOMEN’S HUB love session, again with Nele and speaker coach Christopher Lübbers.
In all these situations, I was working with people that I deeply appreciate, and that invite me to be the truest, boldest version of myself. In all these situations, my role was to increase people’s self-awareness and help others to become so confident, connected and creative that they can’t help but have a positive impact in the world. I could just feel the ripple effect I was creating.
And yet, even when writing this, there is a part of me that is ashamed to write this ‘out loud’. There’s a part of me that finds it safer to write about things that I struggle with, so that I am more relatable.
But deep down, I know I want to embrace my power, and I want you to be ‘brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous’ too. Of course there will be times that we will envy each other's successes. But just as working with Laurence, Nele and Christopher inspires me to shine, I want your success to liberate and inspire me.
So today, my invitation to you is to tell me about a moment in your life where you were letting your light shine, where you felt in flow, where you experienced your power. It can be a big or a small moment.
If that little voice in your head is telling you that your moment might not be good enough, or too big, or you don’t have time to share, or you don’t know me that well, tell it that it would be a dream for me to receive messages from each and everyone on this email list.
And while you’re sharing your moment with me, why not share it with someone close to you as well, and ask them to share their powerful moment with you?
Let’s create a powerful ripple together!
